ALCOHOL is not often described as a drug due to the fact that is so commonly available

It is however one on the world's greatest drug abuse problems and affects more people than all people affected by all other drugs put together

ALCOHOL is available in so many forms today, from liquor (beer / spirits / whisky / liqueur / wine) to cough mixtures to many other medical preparations.  Alcohol is the most widely used dissolving agent after purified water used in medication, even in ear drops

The liquor alcohol is produced by fermenting and distilling fruit or grains or vegetables

APPEARANCE

Pure ALCOHOL is a clear colourless liquid like water.  In liquor it assumes the colouration of the beverage.  In medication it is very seldom coloured

PRESENTATION

Being a liquid it will be in a spill-proof vessel, mostly bottles or vials made from glass

EFFECT

Alcohol affects the brain and spinal cord resulting in (initially) relaxation and (eventually) loss of coordination, poor muscle control, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting and eventually sleep

Many alcohol addicts choose to consume their alcohol on its own, but there are addicts that mix their alcohol with other drugs with sometimes devastating effect and death
