LSD stands for lysergic acid diethylamide.  It is manufactured from lysergic acid, which is found in ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains

APPEARANCE

LSD is a white crystalline powder

PRESENTATION

LSD can be obtained in powder format, or as a tablet or capsule, or dissolved as a clear liquid, or impregnated on blotting paper divided into small decorated squares, each square representing one dose

LSD can also be available in microdots which are small paper dots or gel shapes impregnated with LSD.  They are transported between two pieces of sticky tape to prevent evaporation.  The paper form is often wrapped in cling film

EFFECT

The effects of LSD are unpredictable. They depend on the amount taken; the user's personality, mood, and expectations; and the surroundings in which the drug is used

Usually, the user feels the first effects of the drug 30 to 90 minutes after taking it. The physical effects include dilated pupils, higher body temperature, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweating, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, dry mouth, and tremors

All normal senses are subjected to severe hallucination e.g. people that can "taste" sound.  The drug causes disturbing post-hallucinogenic distortions and flashbacks

LSD was THE drug in the 60's and 70's during the "flower power" and "hippie" years
John Lennon wrote  a song to its tribute... Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and was recorded by The Beatles on their Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heartclub Band album
