MORPHINE is named after MORPHEUS, the Greek
god of dreams. It was initially used in the mid-1800s as a
cure for alcohol and opium addictions and later over 400,000 men
in the American Civil War suffered from "soldiers illness"
(addiction)

EFFECT |
Side effects include impairment of mental performance, euphoria,
drowsiness, lethargy, and blurred vision. It also decreases
hunger, inhibits the cough reflex, and produces constipation.
