OPIUM is the crudest form and also the least potent of the opiate drugs
 
It is harvested from the unripened seed of the poppy plant when the skin is lacerated. 
 

APPEARANCE

Opium is a milky substance when collected and becomes a sticky brown resin and when dried turns black.  This black form is mostly smoked, but can also be eaten or injected
